Desafortunadamente, mis resultados no fueron buenos y fui diagnosticada con este tipo de diabetes. Despu\u00e9s de tener a mi beb\u00e9 he continuado con chequeos constantes, pues mi doctora me dijo que soy resistente a la insulina y eso, a la larga, podr\u00eda convertirse en diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la resistencia a la insulina?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Se trata de un padecimiento que ocurre cuando la hormona insulina, generada por el p\u00e1ncreas, no funciona de manera adecuada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En condiciones normales, el sistema digestivo descompone los alimentos que ingerimos y los transforma en az\u00facar o glucosa. La insulina ayuda a que esa glucosa entre a las c\u00e9lulas para utilizarla como combustible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En las personas con resistencia a la insulina, la glucosa no puede ingresar a las c\u00e9lulas con tanta facilidad. Como resultado, los niveles de az\u00facar en sangre aumentan, incluso cuando el p\u00e1ncreas produce m\u00e1s insulina para intentar disminuir la cantidad de az\u00facar en sangre. Si esto no se frena, llega un momento en que el organismo ya no puede seguir generando m\u00e1s insulina y da paso a la prediabetes o diabetes tipo 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La prediabetes \u2013padecimiento en que los niveles de glucosa en sangre son m\u00e1s altos de lo normal, pero no lo suficientemente para ser diagnosticados como diabetes\u2013 por lo general ocurre en las personas que ya tienen cierta <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niddk.nih.gov\/health-information\/informacion-de-la-salud\/diabetes\/informacion-general\/que-es\/resistencia-insulina-prediabetes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resistencia a la insulina<\/a> o cuyas c\u00e9lulas del p\u00e1ncreas no est\u00e1n produciendo suficiente insulina para mantener la glucosa en sangre en rangos normales. Con el tiempo, una persona con prediabetes podr\u00eda desarrollar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/diabetes\/guia\/\">diabetes <\/a>tipo 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las personas con factores de riesgo gen\u00e9ticos o de estilo de vida tienen m\u00e1s posibilidades de desarrollar resistencia a la insulina o prediabetes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sobrepeso u obesidad<\/li><li>Ser mayor de 45 a\u00f1os<\/li><li>Tener un padre, madre, hermano o hermana con diabetes<\/li><li>Ser f\u00edsicamente inactivo<\/li><li>Tener la presi\u00f3n arterial alta y niveles altos de colesterol malo (LDL) y niveles bajos de colesterol bueno (HDL)<\/li><li>Fumar<\/li><li>Historial de diabetes gestacional<\/li><li>Historial de enfermedad card\u00edaca o accidentes cerebrovasculares<\/li><li>S\u00edndrome de ovario poliqu\u00edstico<\/li><li>S\u00edndrome metab\u00f3lico (una combinaci\u00f3n de presi\u00f3n arterial alta, niveles anormales de colesterol y cintura grande)<\/li><li>Problemas de sue\u00f1o, especialmente apnea del sue\u00f1o: una afecci\u00f3n que hace que las v\u00edas respiratorias se bloqueen durante el sue\u00f1o, reduciendo o deteniendo por completo el flujo de aire<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-825\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-270x180.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso-770x515.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.drminded.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/hombre-con-sobrepeso.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se diagnostican la resistencia a la insulina y la prediabetes?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De acuerdo con el art\u00edculo \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la resistencia a la insulina? 5 datos que debes saber sobre la resistencia a la insulina\u201d, publicado en el sitio web de la <a href=\"https:\/\/endocrinologia.org.mx\/pacientes-resistencia-insulina.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sociedad Mexicana de Nutrici\u00f3n y Endocrinolog\u00eda<\/a>, los principales signos o s\u00edntomas de este padecimiento son: sentirse cansado la mayor parte del d\u00eda, dolor de cabeza, mucho sue\u00f1o despu\u00e9s de comer muchos carbohidratos, subir de peso y tener manchas oscuras en el cuello, las axilas o las ingles. Estas manchas tambi\u00e9n podr\u00edan presentarse en personas con prediabetes. Sin embargo, por lo general, la resistencia a la insulina y la prediabetes no presentan s\u00edntomas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para saber si tienes prediabetes, tu m\u00e9dico te pedir\u00e1 que te realices un an\u00e1lisis de glucosa en sangre en ayunas o una prueba de hemoglobina glicosilada o A1C. Esta prueba tambi\u00e9n es un an\u00e1lisis de sangre y ayuda a medir el promedio de tu glucosa en sangre en los \u00faltimos tres meses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para determinar si tienes resistencia a la insulina, por lo general tu m\u00e9dico no te realizar\u00e1 una prueba. En mi caso, mi doctora da seguimiento a mi padecimiento con an\u00e1lisis de glucosa en ayunas y A1C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si tienes algunos de los factores de riesgo anteriores o presentas algunos de los signos o s\u00edntomas descritos en este art\u00edculo, lo mejor es que hables con tu m\u00e9dico y te realices las pruebas que te indique.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si te diagnosticaron resistencia a la insulina o prediabetes, no te preocupes; oc\u00fapate.
